Members of the Development Control committee will consider all aspects of the proposals, including two comprehensive public consultations.

Plans to create the London Aerospace and Technology College are being led by London South East Colleges in partnership with the airport and the GLA. It aims to address the growing skills shortage and increasing need for aviation and aerospace engineers.

The new college would offer exciting opportunities for young people across the region, providing high quality educational pathways into the expanding industry.

Principal and CEO of London South East Colleges Sam Parrett, says:“We very much hope to gain full support of councillors at their meeting next week so we can move forward and make our proposals a reality.

“The GLA has contributed over £6m to the project, highlighting the London-wide support for this facility. The Aviation and Aerospace industries are expanding rapidly and skilled engineers are needed urgently.

“The new Aerospace and Technology college will also provide a wealth of employment and career opportunities for young people across the Borough in an industry they may well not have considered. We are hugely grateful to the Council, the GLA, the airport and the public for all the support to get the project this far – and are hopeful for a positive decision by councillors next week.”
