Led by the Victorian Minister for Skills and Training and Higher Education, the Hon Gayle Tierney MP, the group visited the College’s Bromley Campus. They met with students and staff, finding out more about the employer-led training programmes and the College’s focus on high quality vocational training.
During the visit, delegates were given a tour of the College’s industry-standard facilities including the hair and beauty salons, motor vehicle and construction workshops, Life Centre, Nido Volans (SEND) and the University Centre. The guests were also given an overview of the College’s group structure and governance, a brief history of its journey since merger and a look at the new strategic plan.
Leading the tour, College Group Executive Director Louise Wolsey, said: “It’s a great honour to welcome visitors from the Victorian State Government to the College. We are extremely proud of the education provision we offer and delighted to share our best practice and experiences internationally.”
The Australian Minister was accompanied by delegates from the Victorian education and training sector. The group’s visit to Europe and the UK has seen them examining best practice post-secondary education to inform the development of similar approaches in Victoria.
London South East Colleges has campuses across Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich. It provides vocational education and training, apprenticeships and traineeships, professional courses and degree programmes. The College is a member of the London and South East Education Group consisting of two academy trusts providing both alternative and mainstream secondary provision throughout Bromley and Bexley. Recently, London South East Colleges has been named as a winner of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its pioneering provision of high quality technical and vocational education.
